Jesus Christ as the Word - Understanding Christ eternal:
God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, and the Lord Jesus Christ have always coexisted. What does this mean? Jesus Christ was, is, and always will be, even before He walked this earth. In Genesis 1:26 " ...and God said, Let us make man in our image..." God was talking to both the Son (Jesus Christ) and His Spirit (Holy Spirit). John declared in John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. All things were made by him nd without him was not any thing made that was made." The word in this scripture refers to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our loving Father in His omniscience (all-knowing) saw mankind in their sinfulness and knew that man would need a redeemer (one who would pay the price for sin). Jesus had to come as this spotless lamb because of our great need for redemption (the mandatory price to pay for sin). Jesus made the decision to be our Savior before the foundation of the world.
To summarize, Jesus was in the beginning and made the decison to save us from the price of sin.
Jesus Christ the Man - His Humanity:
God the Son - Christ was made manifest in the flesh when Jesus was born of a virgin. How can this be? A virgin gives birth to a child; this contradicts the laws of nature. God created Eve without a woman; He created Adam without either a man or a woman. There is no difference between these three contradictions to the laws of nature.
To summarize - Jesus Christ as our redeemer became flesh and dealt with fleshly situations, just as we do.
Jesus Christ as Savior - His diety:
Jesus Christ is and has always been equal with God the Father; John 17:5 "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."
Jesus walked this earth as God and as Man. He made the choice to become our Savior and redeem us from the curse of death. Jesus willingly went to the cross for all mankind. John 12:32-33 tells us "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die." and also in John 10:17 "therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again." Jesus Christ was willling to make this sacrifice for us to have eternal life with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
To summarize, We were dead in sin and forever separated from God, but through the death of Jesus Christ, we can (if we choose) be redeemed by God.
Christ the Resurrection - His death, burial, and resurrection:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our Christian Faith and the confirmation of His deity. Why did Jesus Christ have to die and be raised from the dead (resurrection)? The answer is because His resurrection gives life to all who will believe on Him; John 11:25 "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever believeth in me shall never die. Believest though this?" It clearly states that through Jesus Christ's death we have forgiveness of sins and through His resurrection we have overcome the judgement of death.
Now let's look to the future. In the scripture cited above Christ talks about His return. The return of Christ is as certain as the first coming of Christ. The Bible provides clear proof of this fact. His first coming was for our redemption, and His second coming is to take back His church with Him. Christ shall return as a thief in the night; and it is imperative that we are ready, If we are not, we will be left behind. Revelation 1:16-15 "Behold I com as a thief, Blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."
In summary - Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God making intercession on our behalf and He is preparing a place for all those who have believed and accepted Him. Jesus Christ will return. Just as He came the first time, He promises and will return the second.
