ABOUT POD'S

The acronym for POD’s has a meaningful impact upon Hope Aglow for we are “People of Destiny’.  This ministry is designed to connect those associated with Hope Aglow into the traditional cell group structure, without the traditional boundaries.

The theme of the POD’s is “let’s have fun” by getting to know one another through intimate and meaningful time spent together outside of the church environment. 

Traditionally, cell groups were designed to connect individuals through community-home based bible study, prayer and interaction.  Though this is a viable way to connect and interact within a small group setting, we wanted to break the mold.  By doing this the Lord has shown us a way to accomplish what is really needed in the Church today, genuine fellowship! 

Today, the Word of God is being spread across the globe like never before.  You can turn on any television or radio and see or hear the Word of God being ministered by awesome men and women of the faith any time of the day.  So, why do we need to continue having another Bible Study in cell group environments; where individuals attempt to challenge each other with their level of understand of the Bible?

What people really want is real relationships, whereby they can build friendships that are balanced and meaningful.  Therefore, the intent of POD’s, is to galvanize a segment of individual under the Christian Faith and forge koinonia.

Koinonia is a Greek word that means communion by intimate participation.  In other words, it is the active intercommunication and association of individuals into a greater intent – Fellowship.

Our POD’s work much like the cell group method; except our intent is for the group to purposefully have FUN.  The misunderstanding of the world is that the Christian life is dull, boring and stanch.  Quite, the contrary, the Church is a fun, loving and caring reflection of our relationship with God.

The POD’s go to the movies together, picnics, amusement parks, go the library or museum, boat riding and any other agreed upon outing where, growth and friendship can be forged.
